In 2008 we raised £900 for Metro Radio's Cash For Kids!!
Following 30 years in business, Penshaw Equestrian Centre celebrated in style on June 29th with a Family Fun Day and Unaffiliated Trophy Show.
With funfair rides, face painting and a whole host of activities for all members of the family, Penshaw Equestrian Centre were joined by The Metro Radio Roadshow creating an outstanding atmosphere.
The event not only raised awareness of the centre but also took the opportunity to support its chosen charity, Cash for Kids, with ever-popular pony rides raising a grand total of £900 for Portland Special School in Sunderland to allow them to enjoy riding at the Equestrian Centre for an entire term.
As usual the weather could have been better, but nonetheless the show was enthusiastically supported. Trophies were awarded in all classes including tack and turnout - riding classes, hunter, coloured and in-hand classes.
Despite some technical challenges, the spectators enjoyed some spectacular hair-raising jump offs with the bogey fence being a simple upright. Not only was the show for horse-lovers but also for our smaller four legged friends. The novelty dog section created a superb alternative and was enjoyed by all and will be welcome back to forthcoming shows.
Penshaw Equestrian Centre extended their thanks to all competitors, judges and helpers who made the day such a memorable event. The next Unaffiliated Trophy Show is on Sunday, August 31st.
